Red Snapper Photos

Professional wedding photographer covering West & East Sussex, Hampshire & Surrey

Photographer / owner: Dan Wilson LBIPP LMPA.

I first became interested in photography from seeing my Dad's summer holiday photos of the family, when I was young. He did a great job capturing the holidays on his manual camera and a couple of weeks after returning from holiday, the slides would be back from processing and we'd sit down for the slideshow. I guess seeing those lovely holiday moments, projected onto a large screen in glorious colour, really was my first inspiration to pick up a camera and take my own photos.

My passion for photography really developed when I spent a couple of years travelling round the world. So on my return, I took a City & Guilds course in photography, left my office job and got work as a cruise ship photographer. I worked on cruise ships for two years and it proved a great training ground for weddings and social photography. (When you have two thousand passengers to photograph, you learn to work quicky, while getting every shot perfectly composed!) I shot my first wedding in 1999, on a tropical beach (somewhere in the Caribbean) so it wasn't a bad place to start!

From 2002, I was the commercial photographer for a photographic company on the Isle of Man, photographing everything from weddings and coporate portraits, to Her Majesty The Queen and I went freelance in 2004.

That's a bit about my background and instead of writing here about my favourite food or how many pets I have, I'm sure you'd rather read about my suitability to photograph your wedding! I am a full-time, professional photographer and a qualified member of the British Institute of Professional Photography (LBIPP) and the Master Photographers Association (LMPA). I've been shooting weddings since 1999, so have extensive experience. I work in a relaxed, candid and unobtrusive way to allow you to naturally enjoy your wedding day, with your family and friends, without the stress of constantly posing for photos. My knowledge will help guide you throughout the day and my experience means you can be assured of making the most of the photographic opportunities at your chosen venue with memorable, quality photos that capture the full story of your day.

My photos don't necessarily get projected onto a large screen, in a darkened living room these days, but my aim is to capture the moments of your wedding day that you will remember and treasure, just like my Dad did with the holiday photos all those years ago.
